Privacy and security

Cookies

The Privacy pane can allow network cookie requests, block third-party cookie requests, or block all cookie requests. Blocking stops cookies being sent and accepted in network requests; it does not erase saved cookies or disable every form of website storage.

Use Show Cookies to remove cookies, or Reset to clear website data. Cookie exceptions apply to a host and its subdomains; a more specific host takes precedence. Imported “Session only” exceptions are shown as blocked until changed.

Malicious-site warnings

The malicious-site warning setting uses WebKit’s fraudulent-website warning option. It is not a guarantee that every unsafe site will be detected. Macino does not recreate the old Gecko warning service or all of Safari’s protections.

Passwords

Saved passwords use the macOS Keychain. When the Keychain preference is enabled, Macino can offer to save or update a login and fill saved credentials when you click or tab into an empty login field. Fill Form is also available as an explicit command.

Reset and Empty Cache

Reset clears history, website data, remembered sessions, cookie and pop-up permissions, certificate exceptions and the downloads list. It cancels active transfers. Bookmarks, preferences, Keychain passwords and downloaded files are kept.

Empty Cache clears web caches while retaining cookies, other website storage and history.

What is not private browsing

Macino currently has no private-browsing mode. Custom profile folders share preferences and WebKit website data. Use backup and recovery guidance before changing stored data.

For the website’s own data handling, see Website privacy.
